Life Happens
Feeling overwhelmed by Anxiety or Loss - Feeling Stuck - Relationship Difficulties - Feeling Unheard - Troubled by Past Experiences or Habits

The reasons why someone turns to professional support can be as varied and unique as we each are. Sometimes it comes from a significant change in personal circumstances, such as a relationship breakdown, bereavement or other life event.  For others, it might be prompted by concerns about their physical health such as experiencing panic attacks, difficulty sleeping or other symptoms of stress. Some simply feel that now is the right time for them to make some changes, perhaps feeling overwhelmed or stuck in situations or patterns of behaviour.

Because, the truth remains that however many books we've read, podcasts we've listened to or even healthy habits we have in place, oftentimes we remain stuck in patterns of behaviour or thoughts that we find difficult to manage. We are after all, social animals and perhaps it should be no surprise that real healing and change happens in relationship with another. Talking therapy can help.

As an experienced and qualified psychotherapist, working within the ethical frameworks of reputable professional bodies (UKCP, BACP and ACTO),  I am pleased to offer my clients a confidential space which supports them to reflect, process, adapt and move forward better equipped to meet whatever opportunities or challenges lie ahead.

Because Self-care Isn't Selfish

Please contact me to explore how talking therapy might be right for you. I offer a free brief introductory phone call to help you to decide whether you would like to meet for an Initial Consultation, without further obligation. This can usually be arranged within a fortnight and is a chance for you to gain a sense of whether I might be the right therapist for you. We can discuss in confidence what brings you here and what your hopes are and explore together how I might be able to support you. We may agree to a specific number of sessions or to work on an open basis.

For couples, I provide a neutral space to explore current difficulties and can offer an additional option of a four session 'Relationship Audit' within the evidence based Gottman framework of couples therapy which I have completed further training in. Together we become aware of the patterns of communication and unspoken scripts which may be making the relationship feel more difficult and works towards improving the three pillars of successful relationships; how differences are managed, friendship and shared meaning. We face whatever is causing difficulties and together we experiment with proven tools to improve communication and support better understanding. If it emerges that the relationship difficulties are irreconcilable, I can help to manage a separation with respect for all involved. â€‹â€‹

About Lisa

Most people are not aware that the profession of talking therapies is not regulated and is without government standards. There are practitioners using the unprotected titles of psychotherapist or even counsellor without having undertaken the rigorous training, personal therapy, on-going supervision of practice or commitment to continuous learning which is required of those of us who voluntarily register with one of the professional bodies. And which I believe, are the expectation of most clients. It is important to me to be transparent about my experience and training so that you are equipped to make an informed decision and welcome any questions you may have.

I previously worked across the private, public and voluntary sectors in business development, change programmes and project management.

I hold both professional indemnity insurance and an Enhanced Criminal Record Certificate from the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service - previously known as 'police check').

I hold an MA / Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling (to UKCP and BACP Snr. Accred. standards), am a Certified Cyber Therapist (an in-depth training to work safely on line and to qualify for ACTO membership), have completed Level 1 and 2 of The Gottman Method trainings and hold a Diploma in Integrative Supervision. I regularly participate in Continuing Professional Development and have regular supervision of my own clinical work.

Whilst undertaking my psychotherapy training at The Minster Centre in London I completed specialist training and volunteered for both ChildLine and Cruse Bereavement Care. I have completed specialist training with The Foundation for Infant Loss. In addition to private practice, I have volunteered for many years at a low cost counselling service for adults and young people
